March 2026
Spring is here - although it has felt like summer lately.. but nonetheless, we have selected the perfect wines to welcome in warmer weather and pair with the fresh seasonal foods that are just starting to surface at the local farmer’s markets!
This month we are taking you to Austria with a lovely Gruner Vetliner, crisp, light, high acidity, perfect with fresh salads and goat cheeses. For our red, we are visiting Georgia with a grippy red wine, which pairs wonderfully with grilled meats and veggies!
We hope you love these wines as much as we do!
Meinklang Grüner Veltliner
Meinklang Grüner Veltliner is a biodynamic wine from Burgenland, Austria, near Lake Neusiedl in the National Park Neusiedlersee UNESCO World Heritage Site. The estate practices Demeter-certified biodynamic farming with integrated cattle providing natural fertilizer. The 100% Grüner Veltliner grapes grow in sandy loam and rocky topsoil. Winemaking involves spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine ages on its lees for four months, then is bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur addition.
Light golden-yellow color with green reflections. The nose offers fresh apple, pear, quince, lime, and elderflower with delicate floral notes and white pepper spice. On the palate, zippy green and yellow fruit combine with herbal lift, bright acidity, and mineral finish. Light-bodied with refreshing character.
Grape: Grüner Veltliner
Region: Burgenland
Farming: Biodynamic
Pairings: Pairs with green salads, goat cheese, artichokes, grilled fish, Thai green curry, Vietnamese spring rolls, carpaccio, soft cheeses, and Asian stir-fry dishes.
GOGO WINE L’ANAMOUR
Winemaking has always been in Keti Berishvili’s blood. She grew up making wine with her father Kakha, one of the founders of the natural wine movement and mentor to the generation of Kakhetian winemakers that came after him. He was working under the label Artanuli Gvino until the 2021 vintage when the two decided that the whole Berishvili family would just produce wine under Keti’s label, GOGO (translates to ‘girl’ in Georgian). Born in 2015, GOGO is an homage to the importance of the role of women in what has been perceived of as a male dominated tradition in Georgia.
This wine has lovely tasting notes of red cherry, pomegranate, and blackcurrant, often accompanied by black pepper and earth. It has high acidity and firm tannins, resulting in a dry, savory, and structured wine.
Grapes: 50% Saperavi, 50% Rkatsiteli
Region: Kakheti, Georgia
Farming: Organic
Pairings: Excellent with rich, hearty foods such as roasted lamb, grilled vegetables, or aged cheeses.
